Certain shows gain a lot of traction and reach towering peaks of popularity with a massive fanbase, yet there are many fantastic series that people seldom talk about. Here are ten of my favorites:

Be prepared to have your expectations turned upside down!

Galavant (TV series)

Clever twists to the classic Disney tropes in this musical show for those who grew up with the good ole Disney. Music by Alan Menken who has composed for classics like The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas and Aladdin.

All Saints Street (donghua/manhua)

In this Chinese production (how often do people talk about donghua?), Halloween monsters share an apartment in this slice of life short series. Nini the demon king can’t be bad enough so he goes to live with humans, but ends up co-renting an apartment with mythological creatures such as an angel, vampire, werewolf and mummy.

Golden phoenix boy Sol is one of my favorite characters

Kaji’s Estate (Webtoon, ongoing)

A creative and colorful cast compete to be the next host body for Kaji that is full of ikemen.

Bird Boy (webcomic, unfinished)

This well-drawn mythology comic follows 10-year-old Bali as he traverses a forest full of monsters to prove his worth.

Enjoy an image of the comic’s iconic nisepanda~

Senyuu (manga)

A hilarious gag comic about heroes and demons drawn in a slapdash way reminiscent of Toaster Dude, but Japanese. It’s a quick read that doesn’t require much brain power (except for some exposition-y parts) but is full of laughs.

Memorabilia (webcomic, complete)

A really calming comic drawn in a pleasing style about someone who lost their memories. Content Warning: BL/gay romance

Is he a dog? Is he a cat? Or… ?

Bee and Puppycat (animated show)

Strong cottagecore vibes from this low-key series. Follow the puppy? cat? with a secret past and his owner, Bee, on adventures as they work temp jobs on strange and colorful alien planets.

Song of the Sea (animated movie)

A cute Irish film about a brother and sister and their adventures with the fae. A great watch for the entire family.

Wilde Life (webcomic, ongoing)

Oscar keeps meeting supernatural creatures based on Native American myths after renting an old house off Craigslist. Wilde Life has elements of horror, a 1940s ghost, a redheaded teenage werewolf and… witches!

Lovely People (comic, complete)

Bunnies in the social credit system by a Christian artist. This one isn’t so much fantasy as near-futuristic dystopian, but it’s truly lovely… and horrifying because that could be us soon.

So did you check them out? Comment to let me know what you think, and if you would add anything to this list. Happy viewing!
